A confidential Orange County-based litigation firm is seeking an Insurance Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join its defense-side practice handling general liability matters, including premises liability and product liability. THE ROLE
- Manage a docket of insurance defense litigation matters through all phases of litigation.
- Draft and argue motions; handle written discovery and deposition work.
- Work on case strategy, fact development, and liability and damages analysis.
- Support settlement efforts, mediations, and trial preparation as cases progress.
- Communicate professionally with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
Location:
Orange County, California.
Schedule:
Primarily in-office; expectation of four to five days per week in the office, with potential flexibility based on experience and office needs.
Compensation:
$160,000 to $200,000 base salary (dependent on experience).
REQUIREMENTS
- 3 to 8 years of insurance defense litigation experience.
- California bar admission in good standing.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school (Top 50 law school preferred by the hiring team).
- Strong legal writing, motion practice, and discovery skills.
- Stable tenure and a consistent employment history (the team is not seeking frequent job-changers).
PREFERRED BACKGROUND
- Experience with general liability, premises liability, and product liability matters.
- Exposure to employment-related or labor law issues within a litigation context.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- 1950 annual billable hours.
- Bonus structure includes semi-annual, tiered bonuses beginning at 1,950 hours (minimum $5,000 per year; scales upward), plus a discretionary year-end bonus based on factors such as quality of work, case handling, and mentoring (reported range $2,000 to $20,000+).
