is seeking an ambitious and driven
Music Lawyer
to join our expanding legal services team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated legal professional who is eager to develop their own practice within a dynamic and forward-thinking firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in music law and a keen understanding of the industry’s evolving landscape. This role offers a unique platform to work with high-profile clients, negotiate complex agreements, and provide expert legal counsel in a fast-paced, creative sector.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic legal advice on contracts, intellectual property rights, and a range of music law matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including recording agreements, publishing agreements, distribution agreements, producer agreements, management agreements, licensing agreements, sponsorship agreements,endorsement agreements and merchandise agreements.
Conduct legal research and analysis to support client advisory services.
Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments within the music industry.
Supervise and mentor junior lawyers.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and key industry stakeholders.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Minimum 5 years PQE, with a strong background in music law.
Proven experience in private practice, with direct exposure to the music business.
Ideally has an existing client base and a proven ability to expand their practice.
Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating music industry commercial contracts, with a deep understanding of industry structures and emerging trends.
Exceptional technical drafting skills, with a strong grasp of contract law and copyright principles.
A pragmatic, solutions-driven approach to legal work, consistently delivering value to clients.
Ability to handle contract negotiations independently, with resilience and commercial acumen.
Entrepreneurial mindset, with a proactive approach to business development and client acquisition.
Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to provide strategic legal advice in a competitive industry.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
High levels of integrity, professionalism, and discretion, with a commitment to confidentiality.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
Highly organised, able to prioritise and manage a demanding workload under pressure.
Flexible and responsive, willing to occasionally work outside regular hours when necessary.
