Role Description
We are appointing a Money Laundering Reporting Officer to hold the financial crime function.
You own the AML/CFT framework day to day: the risk assessment, the policies, customer due diligence, screening and transaction monitoring. You review and investigate alerts and suspicious activity, and you make the final determination on whether a suspicious transaction report is filed — that call is yours, filed with the NFIU, and not subject to override by the business.
You report directly to the Board on compliance matters, on a line that does not pass through management. You decide sanctions matches, order freezes, and own the high-risk jurisdiction list.
You also keep the function alive in the business: training and guidance for staff, advice to operations, product and risk as controls are built, monitoring of regulatory developments, support to internal audit, and regular reporting to senior management and the regulator.
Qualifications
- Nigeria-resident, at management level
- Real AML/CFT operating experience — you have run monitoring, dispositioned alerts and filed STRs, not only advised on the rules
- Strong command of AML/CTF regulation, sanctions requirements and industry standards
- Familiarity with goAML and the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022
- Analytical judgement: able to read complex data, see a pattern, and make a risk-based call you can defend
- CAMS, ICA, Compliance Institute of Nigeria (CIN) or equivalent is valued — a strong operating record matters more
- Cross-border payments experience welcome. Digital asset experience welcome, not required
- Comfortable working remotely, with the independence the role demands
