Salary expectations: $150,000–$200,000+ DOE
A highly respected Los Angeles boutique litigation firm is seeking a Mid-Level Litigation Associate to join its growing disputes platform. This is an outstanding opportunity for a true litigator who wants complex, high-value cases, meaningful responsibility, and exposure that would often take much longer to get at a larger firm.
The firm is specifically looking for attorneys with 4+ years of litigation experience, ideally more seasoned, who can help shoulder meaningful responsibility from busy partners. Their focus is on complex commercial litigation and high-stakes insurance coverage-related disputes, often involving multi-million-dollar matters.
Highlights:
- Complex, high-value litigation — multi-million-dollar disputes, not low-hanging fruit.
- Boutique platform with elite-level work — sophisticated matters with the agility of a smaller firm.
- Real courtroom exposure early — attorneys are trusted to do more, sooner.
- Strong litigation pedigree — the firm highlights deep trial experience and a high success rate across discreet, high-profile matters.
- True growth hire — the firm is turning away 60–70% of inbound work due to lack of bandwidth.
- Partnership path exists — both non-equity and equity routes, with advancement based on impact and contribution.
- Fun, non-corporate culture — smart, high-performing, no micromanagement, and genuinely team-oriented.
- Better work-life balance than many comparable firms — annual minimum around 1,800 hours.
The role:
This is a litigation-focused role for an attorney who wants to handle complex commercial disputes and work directly with highly experienced trial lawyers in a boutique setting that values agility, independence, and strong legal instincts.
You will:
- manage complex litigation matters with real ownership
- support or lead strategy on sophisticated commercial and coverage disputes
- handle hearings, depositions, motion work, and broader litigation responsibilities
- work directly with partners on high-value matters
- grow quickly in a firm that gives capable attorneys room to do more
Compensation:
- Salary: $150,000 to $250,000+, depending on experience, seniority, billables, and office presence.
- Bonus: annual profit-sharing style bonus, tied to firm and individual performance. The structure is discretionary rather than formulaic, but can be meaningful in strong years.
- Benefits include: Multiple health plan options, with several fully covered for the employee, optional dental and vision, 401(k) eligibility after 6 months.
What they’re looking for:
- 4+ years of litigation experience
- Ideally 7+ years for the more senior need, but there is no hard cap.
- Strong background in complex litigation
- Commercial litigation mindset preferred
- Insurance coverage experience helpful, but not essential
- Ability to handle sophisticated, high-value matters with agility and sound judgment
This is ideal for someone who is:
- tired of being over-structured or underutilized
- looking for stronger quality of work
- keen to develop faster than they would in a larger, more bureaucratic platform
- interested in joining a firm for the long term, not just making a short-term move
