Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN is hiring a Medicare Principal Attorney. This role involves providing legal advice to mitigate risks, understanding healthcare regulations, and advising on Medicare programs, including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Cost, and Part
D. The role requires strategic thinking, minimal oversight, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Medicare-related legal and regulatory matters, with in-depth knowledge of Medicare programs and federal and state laws. Preference is given to candidates who can work hybrid out of Eagan, MN.
A Day In The Life
Provide legal counsel on Medicare Advantage, Medicare Cost, and Medicare Part D, including healthcare fraud laws, Bid Submission, Benefit Design, Risk Adjustment, Star Ratings, and related regulations.
Interpret CMS regulations and legislative developments affecting Medicare.
Support compliance efforts, including responding to audits and regulatory inquiries.
Draft and negotiate contracts with providers, PBMs, and vendors.
Develop internal policies and training programs to ensure legal compliance.
Advise leadership on risks and opportunities related to Medicare policies.
Collaborate with internal departments on Medicare-related matters.
Monitor litigation and represent the company in administrative hearings when needed.
Support Medicaid legal matters related to the Dual Special Needs program.
Required Skills And Experiences
Law degree and admission to the state bar.
10+ years of relevant professional experience, including healthcare law.
Preferred Skills And Experiences
7+ years in healthcare law with a focus on Medicare.
Experience advising on Medicare compliance, policy interpretation, and disputes.
Proven strategic legal counsel skills.
Experience with regulatory compliance and contract negotiations.
Ability to develop policies and advise leadership on policy shifts.
Strong collaboration skills across departments.
Experience in litigation monitoring and representation in administrative hearings.
Support experience for Medicaid and Dual Special Needs programs.
