Role Description This is a full-time, on-site/ remote role for Maritime Lawyers based in the MENA Region, South Asia and Indo Pacific, an important milestone for strengthening the Maritime Legal and Strategic Skeleton. The candidate must have 10 years PQE and enrollment shall be made on case to case basis. The role involves advising clients on international maritime and admiralty law matters, including carriage of goods by sea, marine insurance, charter parties, port regulations, and dispute resolution. Maritime Lawyers will draft, review, and negotiate maritime contracts and legal documents, prepare legal opinions, and assist with regulatory compliance and risk management related to maritime operations and trade with our global team of solicitors and barristers. They will conduct in-depth legal research, contribute to policy papers and reports, support litigation and arbitration before national and international forums, and collaborate with global offices on cross-border cases. The role also includes engaging with stakeholders, participating in research-oriented dialogues, and contributing to training, publications, and thought leadership in maritime law.

Qualifications

  • Strong grounding in maritime and admiralty law, international law, and commercial law, with the ability to apply legal principles to complex cross-border maritime issues.
  • Proficiency in legal research, analysis, and writing, including drafting legal opinions, pleadings, contracts, and policy papers related to maritime trade and regulation.
  • Experience in litigation and dispute resolution, including handling arbitration and court proceedings involving shipping, port operations, marine insurance, and trade disputes.
  • Skills in contract drafting and negotiation for charter parties, bills of lading, service agreements, and other maritime-related commercial arrangements.
  • Ability to interpret and advise on regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, and risk management strategies for maritime, port, and trade activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; strong advocacy, client advisory, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B/ JD or equivalent); LL.M in International or Maritime Law is highly beneficial, along with bar admission or license to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
