A well-established law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maritime Insurance Defense Attorney to join its dynamic litigation team. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience in maritime and insurance defense cases, with a solid foundation in a broad range of legal disciplines. Key Responsibilities:

Provide expert legal counsel on maritime-related disputes, including accidents, cargo damage, and insurance claims.

Defend clients in maritime cases, handling all stages of litigation from pre-trial motions to settlement or trial.

Conduct in-depth investigations, gathering evidence and possibly on-site inspections to support maritime-related claims.

Liaise with key regulatory bodies, such as the United States Coast Guard and local port authorities, to navigate legal matters.

Analyze and research complex legal issues in maritime law and related fields to ensure successful case outcomes.

Draft and review a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and client communications.

Represent clients during depositions, court hearings, and trials, effectively advocating for their interests.

Collaborate closely with fellow attorneys and support teams to manage a diverse caseload.

Maintain consistent and clear communication with clients to keep them informed and ensure their needs are met.

Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Active admission to the Maryland Bar; additional licensure in DC, PA, or VA is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing maritime law and insurance defense litigation, with demonstrated expertise in areas such as product liability, construction litigation, premises liability, general liability, professional liability, property damage claims, and transportation.

Strong academic background with a proven ability to conduct thorough legal research and produce high-quality legal writing.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex legal arguments clearly and persuasively.

Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and thrive under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.

Ability to quickly build rapport with clients and stakeholders, maintaining professional and positive relationships.

Availability to work remotely, with the expectation to attend the office in Baltimore 3 days per week after an initial in-office training period (90-180 days).
