We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Managing Director / Country Head to lead and expand our shipping agency operations in Qatar. The role will be responsible for full P&L ownership, business growth, operational leadership, customer relationship management, and strategic expansion within the container liner and shipping agency sector.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise from container shipping lines or shipping agencies and possess strong commercial, operational, and leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall business operations for the Qatar entity.
- Drive profitability, revenue growth, and operational excellence.
- Own complete P&L management and financial performance.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with shipping lines, port authorities, and key customers.
- Manage commercial activities, including client acquisition, trade development, and agency partnerships.
- Oversee vessel operations, port agency activities, documentation, and service delivery.
- Lead and mentor local operational and commercial teams.
- Identify new market opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with local maritime regulations and corporate governance standards.
- Coordinate closely with regional leadership teams based in Dubai.
Required Experience
- 15+ years of experience in
- Shipping Agencies OR Container Liner Company
- Background in container shipping lines or shipping agency operations — mandatory
- Strong commercial acumen: P&L management, business development, client acquisition
- Experience managing multiple offices, business units, or legal entities
- Master Mariner background welcome — especially if combined with commercial or operational experience ashore
- Forwarding, logistics, oil & gas, or warehousing backgrounds will not be considered
