Managing Criminal Defense Paralegal – Fully Remote Jobs in Remote at Resource Innovative Technologies LLC
We are seeking an experienced Managing Criminal Defense Paralegal to join a growing Criminal Defense practice. This is a fully remote, full-time leadership opportunity for a seasoned criminal defense paralegal with substantial federal criminal defense experience and demonstrated experience managing legal support staff.
The ideal candidate will be able to independently support complex federal criminal matters while providing leadership, direction, mentoring, and accountability to the Criminal Defense support team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate Criminal Defense paralegals and support staff, including assignments, priorities, workflow, performance, and deadlines.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, training, and guidance to the support team.
- Provide hands-on paralegal support for complex federal and other criminal defense matters.
- Manage cases from intake and investigation through hearings, trial preparation, sentencing, and post-trial matters.
- Draft, review, and prepare motions, pleadings, subpoenas, correspondence, discovery-related documents, and other legal filings.
- Prepare and electronically file documents in federal courts while ensuring compliance with applicable rules and deadlines.
- Manage complex discovery, including organizing, reviewing, summarizing, and maintaining large volumes of documents, reports, video, audio, and other evidence.
- Maintain attorney calendars and track court appearances, hearings, trials, filing deadlines, client meetings, and other critical dates.
- Prepare hearing and trial materials, exhibits, witness files, attorney notebooks, and other litigation support materials.
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients and their families regarding case status, documentation, and scheduling.
- Coordinate with attorneys, investigators, experts, court personnel, government agencies, and other parties.
- Monitor case progress and proactively identify outstanding tasks, approaching deadlines, and potential issues.
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files.
- Train and mentor Criminal Defense staff and help establish consistent processes and standards.
- Accurately record billable time and assist with case management and administrative responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
The following three qualifications are essential for this position:
- Substantive federal criminal defense paralegal experience
- Demonstrated management/supervisory experience
- Strong professional history with increasing levels of responsibility
Additional qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of substantive criminal defense paralegal experience; more extensive experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal criminal court procedures, electronic filing requirements, discovery, deadlines, and litigation practices.
- Prior experience directly supervising, leading, mentoring, or managing paralegals or legal support staff.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex criminal matters and anticipate attorney and case needs.
- Strong legal drafting, proofreading, organizational, and case management skills.
- Significant experience managing complex discovery and preparing matters for hearings and trial.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, accountability, and client-service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, legal case management systems, federal electronic court filing systems, and related legal technology.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage and communicate with a team in a fully remote environment.

- Fully Remote – Prefered EST Location
- Monday–Friday
- 9:00 AM–6:00 PM Eastern Time
Washington, DC experience is not required. Federal criminal defense experience is required.
