A well-established law firm in Woodbridge is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will haveprior law firm experience, a strong commitment to providing excellent client service, exceptional attention to detail, and must desire to be an essential team member of a very busy practice that primarily handles family law matters. This position is not solely administrative—it requires legal document drafting, case management, and billing responsibilities.

The team member will serve as the first point of contact for clients, answering calls using a multi-line telephone system, responding to inquiries, conducting conflict checks and scheduling consultations. They will be responsible for drafting and preparing legal documents for family law, personal injury, and estate planning cases, as well as organizing, maintaining, and updating client files both digitally and physically. Additionally, they will prepare and file legal documents with the appropriate courts, both electronically and in person. The Legal Assistant will also manage client billing, process invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances. Other duties include maintaining and updating the firm’s case and office calendar, scheduling court dates, deadlines, and appointments, assisting attorneys with case preparation—including legal research, drafting correspondence, and reviewing discovery materials—and providing administrative support, such as organizing, scanning, and filing court documents and client records.

The MINIMUM requirements and qualifications are:

2+ years of professional services and legal administrative support required.
Exemplary written and verbal communication is necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, case management software, and electronic filing systems is required.
Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities is imperative.
Ability to draft legal documents using firm templates is required.
Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
Dependable and punctual with a professional demeanor.
Experience handling billing and collections is a plus.

This is a temporary to permanent position based on a 90-day probationary period. The ideal candidate has a desire to learn and grow professionally in their role. The firm is looking for a long-term employee that can grow with the company. Benefits include paid time off, bereavement leave, 401k, paid federal holidays, mileage reimbursements, and bonuses. While we do not offer a traditional health insurance plan, we provide a monthly stipend covering up to 50% of the employee’s health insurance premium to assist with health insurance costs.
