The City of Yellowknife invites applications for a Manager of Legal Services for an 18-month term. Reporting to the Director of Economic Development and Strategy, you will deliver a full array of legal services, draft key bylaws, negotiate contracts, and offer strategic advice to internal stakeholders. This position requires a solid understanding of municipal governance and the ability to work closely with external legal counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer verbal and written legal advice on various matters
• Draft and negotiate contracts and agreements
• Create bylaws and policies for Council review
• Facilitate communication with external legal counsel
• Oversee legal aspects of corporate planning and governance
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Law degree or equivalent
• Compliance with Law Society of the Northwest Territories
• Three years of demonstrated legal experience
• Strong background in municipal governance issues
• Familiarity with real property and construction law
