POSITION SUMMARY

Manager, Legal Operations, Compliance Specialist & Paralegal is a strategic leader responsible for optimizing the legal department’s performance and managing enterprise legal risks. This role blends compliance oversight, and enterprise risk management to ensure efficient delivery of legal services and protection of the company’s business interests.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to CHRO & General Counsel

LOCATION

Hybrid – with on-site location in Southfield, Michigan

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the Legal & Compliance function, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and implement policies, workflows, and KPIs to improve legal service delivery and productivity
  • Oversee legal department budgeting, forecasting, and spend analytics; identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Drive adoption and optimization of legal tech tools (e-billing, supplier risk mitigation, matter management systems)
  • Implement automation and data analytics to improve workflows and decision-making
  • Lead RFP processes and benchmarking for legal and compliance services
  • Develop enterprise risk frameworks, controls, and reporting processes
  • Partner with regional compliance and finance to ensure risk alignment and governance
  • Lead person managing global Ethics Line
  • Ensure adherence with laws, regulatory requirements and corporate policies
  • Support contract management, compliance programs, and any regulatory filings
  • Advise business leaders on legal risk exposure
  • Oversee litigation tracking, claim trends, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Support strategic initiatives such as M&A, restructuring, and global expansion 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·      Bachelor’s degree required

·      8-12+ years of experience in risk management and/or corporate legal environments

·      Strong knowledge of corporate law, compliance, and enterprise risk frameworks

·      Experience in automotive, manufacturing, or highly regulated industries preferred

·      Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and large-scale operational initiatives

·      Strategic thinking and business acumen

·      Data-driven decision-making and financial management

·      Strong project/program management skills

·      Risk assessment and mitigation expertise
