The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $20.21 to $21.07.
This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position
The Judicial Financial Clerk is responsible for work in clerical information processing functions of the Compliance and Monitoring Division within Adult Probation. Identifying collectability via the Debt Setoff (DSO) and the Tax Intercept (TIP) Programs.
Standard Judicial Branch business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The position is on-site and in-person but may be eligible for a hybrid teleworking schedule following six months of employment within the role (dependent on the needs of the Judicial Branch).

Position Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Two (2) years of accounting maintenance, bookkeeping or accounts payable and receivable experience
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications:
Other combinations of post-secondary education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.

Experience in a court/legal environment

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
Research methods used to locate monies and determine their collectability
Skill in:
Time management
Microsoft Office programs, such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Data entry with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to:
Problem-solve by assessing situations, issues, and problems
Exercise independent judgement within legal guidelines and departmental policies and procedures to make a logic decision about the actions to take and request direction from the Supervisor as necessary
Demonstrate reliable attendance
Prioritize a variety of tasks and other specialized clerical support duties with frequent interruptions
Write formulas and create graphs and pivot tables in Excel
Assume personal responsibility by completing work assignments
Contribute and participate as a team-player for positive end-results
Accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports
Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity
Essential Job Tasks

Enters new claims that qualify for the Debt Setoff (DSO) program and updates existing claims in the Tax Intercept (TIP) database daily.
Reviews and finalizes new AZ Department of Revenue (DOR) interceptions received via the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to determine collectability.
Communicates with AOC for troubleshooting issues.
Communicates by writing and/or phone with The Clerk of Superior Court, Adult Probation Staff, County Collections, various Court Agencies and taxpayers.
Reviews AZ lottery winnings for collectability.
Reconciles DOR error report, complete research and make corrections.
Skip traces to verify identity using the AOC’s Nationwide Public Records Search (NPRS) program via TransUnion (TLO).
Documents intercepted DOR/AZ lottery monies into (APETS) case management system (CMS) when received from the AOC.
Calculates interest on erroneous interceptions.
Interprets DSO program authorities A.R.S. §42-1122 and §5-575.
Attends meetings and makes presentations as needed.
Provide administrative support to the department.
Completes other duties and special projects as assigned.
Working conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system’s requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
