CHILD USA seeks to hire a full-time Legal Fellow for a 2-year term with an opportunity for hire as a Staff Attorney upon successful completion of the Fellowship. In coordination with the members of CHILD USA’s Legal Department, the Legal Fellow will be responsible for conducting in-depth legal research, drafting legal documents, planning and executing legal trainings, and other capacity-building work with stakeholders. Responsibilities
Specific Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Researching and drafting amicus briefs, impact litigation briefs, annual reports, journal articles and other projects based on need and capacity.
Working in collaboration with colleagues to identify and establish strategic policy goals for each of our initiatives.
Providing legal support and guidance to various stakeholders in the child protection arena
Preparing and delivering presentations and testimony to support legal reform efforts.
Drafting policy analyses, model legislation, and other policies designed to effect change by state and federal lawmakers.
Developing educational and research materials on issues related to child protection.
Tracking state and federal bill progression on issues related to CHILD USA’s mission.
Responding to inquiries from a diverse range of stakeholders including attorneys, members of the press, and members of the public

Skills
CHILD USA seeks applicants who have a demonstrated commitment to, experience, and desire to work on systemic issues impacting children and survivors of abuse. The ideal candidate will have:
J.D. with Law Review or other Journal experience strongly preferred
Successfully passed the bar of any state
Exceptional research and writing skills
Strong written and oral communications skills, with a high level of comfort presenting information, including ability to explain legal concepts to non-lawyers.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information clearly and concisely for various audiences, including the public, the media, and policymakers.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, be a self-starter, and stay organized.
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and adjust priorities based on changing demands.
Ability to travel to meetings and events on occasion.
**This is a hybrid position that requires staff to be in our Philadelphia office at least one full day/week.
