Job Overview:
Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional proficient in laws of indirect taxation to join the Legal team as an Indirect Taxation professional. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of GST (Goods and Services Tax) and other indirect tax laws in India, coupled with a proven track record in both litigation and advisory roles.
Responsibilities
Advisory Services:
Provide advice & guidance on indirect tax matters, including structuring of transactions, and tax planning.
Conduct thorough research and analysis of complex tax issues to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and optimize tax efficiency.
Assist in identifying potential tax risks and opportunities, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
Litigation Support:
Represent & assist law firms, advocates, senior advocate etc. in indirect tax disputes before tax authorities, appellate tribunals, and courts at various levels.
Prepare appeals, petitions, and other legal documents.
Keep abreast of developments, changes in tax laws, and judicial precedents having implications on the business operations.
Qualifications/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Law with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in indirect taxation, with a focus on both litigation and advisory aspects.
In-depth knowledge of Indian indirect tax laws, particularly GST, customs duty, excise duty, and service tax. Added knowledge of Direct taxation would be a considered a plus.
Proven track record of handling indirect tax disputes and litigation proceedings, including representation before tax authorities and appellate forums.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
