Job Purpose

To provide legal advice in relation to legal matters of CIMB Bank Vietnam in line with the Group’s and CIMB Vietnam’s relevant policies and procedures taking into account of the laws of Vietnam e.g. legal risk, best practices and implementation, advisory, transactional contract negotiation, litigation management and external lawyers appointments for and together with the relevant business and business enabler divisions.

Job holder is also required to provide legal advice and working together with the business and business enabler division and Group Compliance in assisting the relevant divisions to comply with the relevant laws of Vietnam in relation to all products and services and activities of CIMB Bank Vietnam.

Key Responsibilities

Advise the business/functions within the Bank on legal issues impacting the business and operation, including the drafting/reviewing legal documentation required for the Bank’s products/services and hands-on negotiation of diverse commercial agreements with customers (if any).

Manage the legal works with outside counsel.

Gathers evidence to formulate defenses to potential claims.

Represents the Bank in court, arbitration or regulatory agencies as required.

Conducts legal research to assist in the Bank’s business growth.

Participate in establishing and implementing training programs

Perform other legal responsibilities as requested.

Job Specification

Degree Qualified in Law

At least 6-8 five-year experience relating to regulatory and/or banks.

Advanced knowledge of laws and regulations in general and banking ones in particular.

Knowledge of the banking industry and of the products and services available in the banking industry

Technical/Functional skills

Excellent written & verbal communication skills, both in Vietnamese and English.

Personal skills (Soft Competencies [Core/Leadership])

Highly developed communication and influencing skills with ability to build relationships at across the Bank at all levels.
