Job Summary

micro1 is engaging Litigator / Practicing Attorneys to contribute their legal expertise to a customer project focused on the intersection of law and emerging technology. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your legal expertise is what matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply legal reasoning and litigation experience to evaluate, refine, and improve AI-generated legal content, including briefs, arguments, and memoranda.
  • Review AI-generated outputs for factual and legal accuracy, analytical rigor, and adherence to professional standards.
  • Provide detailed written feedback identifying legal errors, logical inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Apply expert judgment to ambiguous and complex legal scenarios, helping calibrate AI models for nuanced legal issues.
  • Draft and edit sample legal language, arguments, and analyses to strengthen model performance across varied litigation and legal practice scenarios.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with a cross-functional project team, incorporating feedback and delivering clear, high-quality written work.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • JD degree from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school and an active license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 3–15 years of post-JD legal experience, with a strong preference for attorneys specializing in trial, appellate, or litigation practice.
  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex legal arguments and identify subtle errors.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly, precisely, and professionally.
  • Experience handling sophisticated litigation matters, including trial, appellate, or federal court practice, is highly valued.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment when evaluating nuanced or ambiguous legal issues.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while incorporating feedback and meeting project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Judicial clerkship experience at the federal or state level, including trial or appellate courts.
  • Law journal editorial experience or a record of published legal writing.
  • Substantial trial experience, federal court admissions, or appellate practice experience.
  • Prior teaching or instructional experience in legal education, including law school faculty, adjunct, lecturer, or fellow roles.
  • Previous experience contributing to AI training, legal technology, or AI evaluation projects.

Compensation Structure

Compensation is hourly, based on approved hours worked and completed in accordance with project requirements.

Start Timeline & Availability

We typically fill roles within 48 hours and are looking for experts ready to jump in right away. If selected, we expect you to start your first tasks within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $80.00 – $140.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
