Your new role

To ensure our legal support team excels in meeting the firm’s and clients’ needs, this role is pivotal in delivering top-notch, client-centric legal support for the Toronto office. This includes areas such as commercial litigation, insurance litigation, insurance defence and coverage disputes, professional liability, and product liability.

The role involves managing 8-10 Legal Assistants daily, while also providing direct legal support to two Associates. Collaboration with team members and other Team Leaders in three other provinces is key, focusing on understanding business and practice needs, and working with the Legal Support Manager and fee earners to provide exceptional client-focused support services.

What you’ll need to succeed

The ideal candidate should have a Legal Assistant Diploma or Certificate with 5-7 years of experience as a senior legal assistant working in a litigation practice.

Prior managerial experience is preferred.

You must possess excellent communication skills to establish credible relationships at all levels and knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure. The ability to balance conflicting priorities, proactively address potential problems, and collaborate effectively is essential.

You should be confidential and discreet, yet able to redirect information appropriately to resolve concerns efficiently. Managing effective working processes and delivering excellent service is crucial. You should be capable of leading, motivating, and developing people, acting as a role model, and maintaining attention to detail and high-quality standards. Resilience, the ability to manage or escalate difficult situations calmly, good influencing skills, and a customer service focus are also important attributes.
