We are looking for a bright, college-educated person with writing skills, a charming personality, and a strong work ethic. Attention to detail is essential. You must have solid spelling and grammar, for example.
You would report directly to a long-time paralegal—a great opportunity to learn the craft. A background as a legal assistant or paralegal is not required
Your role will range from answering phones to interacting with clients and drafting correspondence, discovery and pleadings. Our favorite days are in the courtroom, so the job often involves moving people, and keeping the troops (lawyers, staff and clients) fed and informed.
Most importantly, as the primary point of contact for the firm, you need to bring energy and positivity to interacting with clients, staff and counsel.
General traits. You must be organized and comfortable managing your own time, and possess great attention to detail, a charming and fun-loving personality, a reliable car and clean driving record, a clean background check, a phone that gets email on it, and an “all hands-on deck” attitude toward supporting the firm and our clients. You must be prepared to keep all the information you learn about the firm and the firm’s clients in confidence.
Benefits. We provide health insurance for our full-time employees. We also have a SEP-IRA retirement plan for our employees, subject to the plan’s eligibility requirements; e.g., employees must work for us full-time for 3 years to begin to participate.
Hours. Our office hours are 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. When we are gearing up for trial, we often work in the evenings and on weekends, and while not necessarily required for your position, the best opportunities for advancement in this role would call for some evening and weekend work. We pay overtime when you work more than 40 hours per week to help our firm and its clients.
Timing. We have an immediate need, and we are actively looking for the right person.
Education. Bachelor’s degree required.
