Salary Range with Employer/Employee Retirement Contribution Option 1:
$48,086.64 to $70,282.08

$41,196.24 to $60,197.04
Job Summary:
The Legal Assistant provides legal and administrative support to the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners (Board), assisting the Senior General Counsel, Junior General Counsel, and Paralegal in carrying out legal operations, including case preparation, document management, hearing support, and correspondence handling. This role ensures efficient and accurate processing of legal and administrative documents related to complaints, investigations, and Board meetings.
The Legal Assistant plays a key role in maintaining organized case files, tracking deadlines, and preparing materials for legal proceedings in accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) Chapter 631, Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) Chapter 631, and Nevada Open Meeting Laws.
This position reports to the Senior General Counsel for legal matters and the Paralegal and Records Control Officer for document management.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Support & Case Preparation
Assist in the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, notices, correspondence, and hearing packets.
Organize, file, and maintain legal case files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
Help prepare case materials for disciplinary hearings, settlement conferences, and administrative proceedings.
Coordinate deadlines and track case timelines for legal counsel.
Compile exhibits, evidence, and supporting documentation as directed.
Administrative Support
Schedule meetings, hearings, and legal appointments for the legal team.
Draft and proofread correspondence, memos, and reports.
Assist in organizing and archiving legal documents in compliance with Board retention policies.
Maintain and update logs for complaint tracking, legal case status, and pending actions.
Board Meeting & Public Records Support
Assist in preparing and organizing materials for Board meetings.
Ensure that legal files and documents needed for Board review are properly formatted and accessible.
Provide support in responding to public records requests in accordance with Nevada law.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or certificate in Legal Studies or related field preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal assistant or comparable administrative support role, preferably in a legal, regulatory, or government environment.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of legal terminology, document formatting, and case file management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and document management systems.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work under deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and follow detailed instructions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with legal staff, the public, and external agencies.
