Location: This is a full-time, on-site role in downtown Bethesda, MD — easily accessible by Metro and with parking covered if you drive. You will be working in the office alongside the litigation team every day.

Note: Prior experience in a law firm environment is required. Candidates with litigation paralegal or legal assistant backgrounds are strongly preferred. This role blends substantive litigation support with hands-on administrative responsibilities — candidates must be genuinely comfortable with both.

Job Description

  • Prepare, copy, scan, assemble, and mail pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and service packets; track and maintain proof of service
  • File pleadings, motions, and litigation documents in Maryland, Virginia, and DC state and federal courts, including e-filing and preparation of courtesy copies
  • Draft and send routine correspondence to clients, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors
  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper litigation files, including pleadings, discovery materials, exhibits, and correspondence
  • Assist with discovery tasks including organizing productions, preparing document binders, and tracking deadlines
  • Prepare exhibits and notebooks for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial
  • Manage litigation calendars, tracking filing deadlines, court dates, hearings, depositions, and trial schedules
  • Schedule client meetings, depositions, and court appearances; coordinate with court personnel, reporters, vendors, and process servers
  • Maintain litigation matter lists and assist with closing files at the conclusion of matters
  • Provide general administrative support to the litigation team as needed — copying, scanning, mailing, labeling, data entry

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant strongly preferred; relevant law firm administrative experience will be considered
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with both substantive litigation tasks and hands-on administrative duties
  • Familiarity with court filing procedures, litigation workflows, and document management systems is a plus
  • Notary Public in MD, DC, or VA is a plus — or willingness to obtain
