Barakat + Bossa, a growing U.S.-based law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal with extensive experience handling Texas civil litigation matters to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned litigation professional who enjoys managing cases from inception through trial.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, works independently with minimal supervision, has significant experience supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation, and possesses knowledge of and experience assisting with transactional matters, including contracts and corporate legal work.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex litigation matters from inception through trial.
- Prepare cases for hearings, mediations, depositions, arbitrations, and trial.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Prepare, review, and electronically file pleadings and other court documents in Texas state and federal courts.
- Monitor court dockets and ensure compliance with Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, local court rules, and filing deadlines.
- Prepare trial exhibits, witness files, trial notebooks, demonstrative evidence, and other trial materials.
- Support multiple attorneys while effectively managing competing priorities and assignments.
- Balance billable and non-billable responsibilities while maintaining productivity.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and vendors.
- Assist with contracts and other legal projects as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of litigation paralegal experience supporting complex business and/or civil litigation matters.
- Extensive experience with Texas state and federal court procedures, electronic filing (e-filing), local court rules, and the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Experience with Florida state and federal court litigation is a plus.
- Significant trial preparation and trial support experience.
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced litigation environment.
- Strong understanding of eDiscovery processes and familiarity with document review platforms.
- Strong legal drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while balancing billable and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and require minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of and experience assisting with transactional matters, including contracts and corporate legal work, is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management software (Clio experience preferred).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and/or a Paralegal Certificate preferred.
