Job Description:
Job Summary

Play a critical role supporting the Legal Labor Team in the facilitation and administration of the Company’s Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), Work Rules, Labor Policies, and Labor Strategy. Assists Attorneys in preparing and presenting arbitrations. Creates and inputs information into databases to ensure compliance with contractual timelines, among other things.

This Specialist also supports the Daily Operation Labor Manager group, who works closely with our labor unions to resolve Employee grievances. They provide support to the Labor Managers by being investigative, organized, and working through administrative document retention regarding open grievances, upcoming System Boards, and Arbitrations. This role will complete any special pay requests, reinstatements, retirements, and matter closeouts.

Responsibilities
Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals
Facilitates and administers the Company’s Collective Bargaining Agreements, Work Rules, Labor Policies, and Labor Strategy
Drafts communication between the Company and the Union including grievance denials and resolutions
Supports the Managing Director, Directors, Managers and Sr Managers in Legal and Labor Departments; coordinates and attends meetings with the Union and other individuals as necessary
Acts as an advisor to Leadership at HDQ and in the Field regarding applicable deadlines under the CBA
Researches legal and labor relations topics
Assists with the preparation of Systems Boards, Med/Arbs, and other grievance meetings
Works with Leadership and Legal Department on administrative cases and litigation matters
Works with several different departments, e.g., Employee Relations, Legal, Payroll, Training, People Department, Benefits, to resolve Employee issues
Creates and inputs information into databases to ensure compliance with contractual timelines
Utilizes various HR and Labor software and programs, e.g., SOPI (Irregularity Program), Team Connect (Grievance database) and other databases
Participates in special projects as needed
Champions excellent relationships with all Union Leaders
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing Customer and personal services, including Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of Customer Satisfaction
Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Skilled in written and verbal communication
Ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information (such as speech, sounds, touch, or other sources)
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience

Entry level experience, developing skills and knowledge in:
Human Resources, Unions and Collective Bargaining Agreements, and/or Administration
Preferred experience in: Adobe Acrobat Pro
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive personnel information
Extended hours will be required on an “as needed” basis
Travel will be required on an “as needed” basis

Pay & Benefits
Competitive market salary from $68,150 – $75,700 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
