Litigation paralegals engage in a diverse array of intricate legal matters, collaborating closely with attorneys throughout all phases of litigation—from the commencement of a case through discovery, trial, post-trial proceedings, and appeals. Specific responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
Job Responsibilities
Interface with clients, attorneys and court officials.
Compile and organize documents in an electronic and physical filing system to assist in discovery, motions practice, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
Conduct factual research and prepare written summaries of compiled information.
Help prepare for trial and hearings by organizing exhibits.
Prepare correspondence and pleadings, including but not limited to, Notice of Hearing, Discovering responses, Affidavits, Certificate of Services, Motion or Extension of Time
Oversee the court docket for assigned cases and maintain internal case files.
Draft and issue deposition notices and subpoenas; coordinate and organize witness interview or deposition materials, exhibits, and summaries.
Collaborate with external vendors and internal litigation support teams on all facets of eDiscovery processes.
Work with managing attorney’s office to file pleadings with court clerk or by e-filing
Additional responsibilities as delegated by the practice group and Paralegal Management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of general legal terminology.
Experience with electronic filing systems in federal and state courts.
Ability to identify urgency and prioritize tasks accordingly.
Ability to manage time and multitask effectively and display problem solving skills.
Maintain composure and professionalism under pressure as well as adapt to new situations and changing priorities
Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Strong organizational and detail oriented skills.
Has the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively in dynamic environments, exhibiting proactivity, diplomacy, and composure under pressure.
Ability to proofread material for grammatical, typographical and spelling errors.
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Required:
A bachelor’s degree.
2+ years of complex litigation paralegal with trial experience
Willingness and flexibility to work overtime
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location from which the applicant will be performing the job.
