The Law Office of Surprenant, Beneski & Nunes is an Estate Planning & Elder Law Firm that assists clients in creating foundational documents, planning for asset protection, tax minimization and probate avoidance. We also offer services for probate & estate administration, special needs and long-term care planning (both advance and crisis planning). We are currently searching for a high energy, detail oriented and motivated self-starter to join our team as an Associate Attorney. The initial focus of this Associate Attorney role will be on internal operations, supporting our legal team for efficiency and effectiveness. This role will draft and review documents in all three firm practice areas – Estate Planning, Medicaid Planning, and Estate Administration. They will also partner with our legal support staff to manage timelines, processes, workflow and provide excellent client service. Position will develop to include significant client contact, designing of estate plans, drafting of trusts, probate and trust administration, and public speaking at educational workshops.

A successful Attorney in our Firm will possess the ability to prioritize work, delegate appropriately to the legal support team, have excellent attention to detail and a strong desire to provide 5-star worthy service to our clients and our community.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in the Massachusetts Bar.
1–3 years of legal experience, preferably in estate planning, elder law, or a related practice area.
Ability to prepare and review core estate planning documents including:
Powers of Attorney
Health Care Proxies
HIPAA Release Authorizations
Wills
Familiarity with real estate documents such as:
Deeds
Declarations of Homestead
Certificates of Trustee
Knowledge of trust planning strategies for asset protection, tax minimization, and probate avoidance.
Ability to communicate and meet with clients (in-person, by phone, and via video conference) to commence engagement, assess client goals, and provide tailored legal recommendations.
Strong client service orientation with a proactive and empathetic approach to problem-solving.
Ability to collaborate effectively with financial advisors, insurance professionals, accountants, and other members of the client’s advisory team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong legal research and analytical skills.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple matters efficiently with attention to detail.
Aptitude for project management and team leadership, including mentoring legal staff and delegating tasks effectively.
Willingness and ability to support business development initiatives, including networking, relationship building, and participation in educational workshops or firm-hosted marketing events.
Proficiency with common legal and office software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Clio).

The ideal candidate must be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and have a license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in good standing with the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers and have experience practicing Elder Law. Recent law school graduates who have passed the Bar Exam will be considered. A successful Associate Attorney at our firm will enjoy the process of Estate Planning and Elder Law, including building rapport and trust during the initial consultation, solving complex legal issues, and putting strategies into action that result in happy, satisfied clients.
