May be hired as Judicial Legal Assistant I up to Senior Staff Attorney, based on Experience Level. Salary is commensurate with Qualifications and Experience Level.

Chatham County Court Administration is seeking a motivated and experienced legal professional to fill a Judicial Legal Assistant I-IV/Senior Staff Attorney position. Examples of Duties

Under the direction of the Superior Court Judge or designee, you

Perform complex professional legal work.
Stay current on statutory, criminal, constitutional, and case law.
Attend court, conduct legal research, and assist the Judge using legal research principles, materials, methods, and practices.
Write orders and judgments reflecting the Judge’s ruling.
Analyze and present complex legal issues, facts, evidence, and precedence in an orderly fashion.
Provide effective professional liaison between the Judge, court personnel, other attorneys, and the public.
Stay current on case law and legislation.
Prepare written materials on new case law and maintain databases on such.
Review pending cases to ensure procedural efficiency.
Utilize analytical, communication, and customer service skills in performing duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school,
Must possess or be able to obtain within a specified timeframe a license to practice law in the State of Georgia, and
Must possess or be able to obtain within a specified timeframe Membership in Good Standing of the State Bar of Georgia.

During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.

In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.

Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
