If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team as a Docketing Clerk/Paralegal!
About the Role
In this “office of one” role, the Docketing Clerk/Paralegal will be responsible for ensuring smooth legal operations by managing legal documents, conducting court research, maintaining deadlines, and supporting attorneys across all stages of litigation. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly skilled in court procedural rules, and confident working independently in a fast-paced environment. Also assist attorneys with paralegal duties as needed. This role is best suited for a candidate who has paralegal and docketing / e-filing experience. This is a hybrid role, supporting our NYC office.
Key Responsibilities
Document Management & Docketing: Maintain compliance with procedural deadlines, calculate and record important dates, and manage document tracking in a docketing database.
Filing & Court Procedure Expertise: Oversee litigation document filings, ensure adherence to court rules, and advise attorneys on electronic case filing and related practices.
Research & Deadlines: Conduct in-depth federal and state court filings research, track deadlines with the tickler system, and maintain compliance with procedural rules.
Court & External Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact with court personnel, process servers, and couriers to ensure the smooth flow of critical legal documents.
Managing Attorney Support: Take charge of the daily functions of the Managing Attorney’s Office and represent the firm in court by processing documents and performing case-related research.
What You Bring
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
Experience: Prior experience in a law firm setting is highly preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computerized case management systems.
Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, proven ability to multi-task under pressure, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Work Style: Comfort working independently while maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
