THE OPPORTUNITY

Esbrook P.C. is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our growing team. This role provides critical support to attorneys throughout all phases of commercial litigation, from case inception through trial and resolution. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment — a proactive self-starter who takes ownership of their work, anticipates needs, and manages multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional client service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Litigation Support & Document Preparation

  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and discovery requests and responses (interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission).
  • Conduct legal and factual research and prepare summaries for attorneys.
  • Gather, review, organize, and summarize documents, records, and other supporting materials.

B. Court Filings & Docketing

  • File documents in Illinois state courts and federal courts, including electronic filing through eFileIL and CM/ECF.
  • Monitor court dockets and ensure compliance with applicable court rules, local rules, and standing orders.
  • Calendar and track litigation deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements.

C. Case Management & Coordination

  • Organize and maintain case files, discovery materials, and litigation deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, expert witnesses, vendors, and court personnel.
  • Schedule and coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and other litigation-related events.
  • Maintain accurate case information within the firm’s case management system and ensure all case activity is properly documented.

D. Trial Preparation

  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation and provide in-court support as needed.
  • Prepare exhibits, trial binders, witness files, and other materials for hearings and trial.
  • Assist attorneys with additional litigation projects and case management responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of litigation experience; commercial litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience filing documents in Illinois state and federal courts, including electronic filing systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience using case management and e-discovery software.
  • Strong legal writing, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who works proactively, anticipates needs, and follows through.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

COMPENSATION

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,000 – $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Esbrook P.C. also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and firm holidays.
