Starting Pay: $25.2496 Hourly ($52,519)
Step A: $25.8921 Hourly ($53,856)
Step B: $26.5856 Hourly ($55,298)
Step C: $27.3115 Hourly ($56,808)
Step D: $28.1308 Hourly ($58,512)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years of experience as a District Court Operations Specialist I;

-OR-

Thirty (30) semester hours of college -AND- one (1) year of clerical experience -AND- the ability to type 30 net w.p.m.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform Essential Job Duties and Functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

MAY BE REQUIRED TO:
Obtain certification as a Certified Electronic Operator (CEO).

JOB SUMMARY: Performs responsible and varied clerical tasks in District Court which may be of a confidential nature; work involves the exercise of judgment in the application of prescribed procedures and methods; work is performed under the general direction of the District Court Operations Manager and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

Utilizes computers and data input and retrieval;
Engages with the public via phone, mail, online and in-person, providing court forms, answering case specific and general questions and providing court information;
Receives and receipts cash and non-cash payments for tickets, bonds, etc.;
Prepares case files to be reviewed by a Judge;
Responds to correspondence relative to copies of requested files;
Maintains court files in compliance with SCAO case file management standards;
Process mail;
Process all court proceedings and case type files;
Prepares legal forms including bonds, warrants, small claims, garnishments, etc.;
Balance daily cash receipts and prepare bank deposits;
Assist in the courtroom with cases;
Provide guidance and training to designated staff.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Good knowledge of the work of a court clerk;
Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment and of business mathematics and English;
Good knowledge of legal terminology;
Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations and established policies;
Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions;
Ability to operate a personal computer and associated software;
Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships;
Ability to work independently, collaboratively and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion;
Ability to provide courteous and competent assistance to court patrons;
Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful situations.
