Overview
Litigation Legal Assistant Jobs in Sewickley, PA at Ference & Associates LLC
We are seeking a highly organized Litigation Legal Assistant to work directly alongside our Lead Litigation Paralegal. This is a fast-paced, high-volume role managing an active, intense caseload focused heavily on intellectual property and counterfeiting enforcement.
This position is designed for someone seeking deep professional stability and a long-term career home. This is a demanding role with tight court deadlines; it is not a temporary stepping-stone or transitional position. For the right candidate, this role offers a defined, structured path to transition into a senior support or paralegal role over time.
We strongly prefer candidates with prior litigation experience. However, we will train a sharp, highly technical candidate who possesses an exceptional learning curve and desire to master a complex legal niche.
Key Responsibilities
- Caseload Management: Partner with the litigation paralegal to drive a high-volume caseload, ensuring no deadlines slip through the cracks
- Document Production: Prepare, proofread, and format heavy volumes of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
- Federal & State E-Filing: Master and execute electronic court filings (ECF/PACER) and strictly track rigid court-mandated deadlines
- Data & File Organization: Maintain flawless digital case files, track evidence, and aggressively manage any backlog
- Calendar Ownership: Coordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, court appointments, and attorney calendars
- Client & Firm Communication: Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, answering phones, processing mail, and managing general office logistics
- Advanced Ownership: Take on independent casework, complex task management, and increased responsibility as your skills develop
Qualification
- Experience: Prior litigation or law firm experience is strongly preferred (Paralegal certificate or degree is a plus). Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional law firm experience preferred
- Work Ethic: Proven ability to thrive under pressure, ability to prioritize tasks, and manage multiple competing deadlines
- Technical Aptitude: Advanced proficiency with tech tools, familiarity with ECF/PACER, federal filing procedures, or legal case management software is a major plus
- Commitment: Genuine desire for a stable, long-term position with a firm that values consistency
- Discretion: Exceptional judgement, professional communication skills, and absolute respect for sensitive client confidentiality
What We Offer
- A clear, defined growth and promotion track toward a senior support role
- Comprehensive, hands-on mentorship in the specialized field of IP enforcement
- Long-term job stability within a firm that deeply values and protects its core team
