Description
Fox Rothschild has an opening in its New York, NY office for a Litigation (Financial Services Litigation) Associate with five to seven years of experience. This is a great opportunity to join a busy and growing practice group that is dedicated to protecting our clients’ interests in high-stakes financial services matters. The group focuses on representing financial services participants including broker-dealers, registered investment advisers, financial advisors, and cryptocurrency participants in litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters.
We are looking for someone who brings hands-on litigation and arbitration experience and a genuine passion for the work. The ideal candidate is hardworking, intellectually curious, and eager to roll up their sleeves on complex commercial matters involving financial institutions and regulated entities. Qualifications
Juris Doctorate (JD) required. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of New York.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of general commercial litigation, including regulatory matters and arbitrations
- Experience with matters involving financial services clients, including banks, broker-dealers, investment banks, asset managers, or fintech companies, is highly preferred
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and enforcement proceedings involving financial institutions (e.g., SEC, FINRA, CFPB, OCC)
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency
- Experience with FINRA arbitrations and proceedings before FINRA’s Office of Hearing Officers is a plus
- Manage all phases of complex commercial and financial services litigation, including pre-suit investigation, pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, trial preparation, and appeals
- Draft and argue motions, briefs, and memoranda of law in federal and state courts, as well as arbitration submissions
- Conduct and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
- Oversee document review and e-discovery processes in large-scale matters
- Advise financial institution clients on litigation strategy, risk assessment, and regulatory exposure
- Collaborate with partners to develop case strategy and manage client relationships
- Conduct legal research on complex regulatory and common-law issues affecting the financial services industry
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Compensation & Benefits
- The salary range for this position applies to New York. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $250,000 – $280,000.
