Under close supervision, RECEIVES subrogation referrals from Payment Recovery and Liability associates. ANALYZES, NEGOTIATES, PURSUES, RECOVERS, COMMUNICATES, and DEVELOPS contentions to defend the Company’s liability and damage position and obtain subrogation recoveries.

Essential Functions:

1. Primarily HANDLES defending GEICO’s position with regard to liability decision in arbitration.

2. RECEIVES payment recovery referrals from Payment Recovery and Liability associates. MAINTAINS a pending that includes liability and/or damage dispute claims where adverse carrier is a member of Arbitration Forums, nonmember litigation and other specialized recovery files.

3. ANALYZES information and DETERMINES the Company’s subrogation potential under state specific case law, statutes and the policy contract.

4. NEGOTIATES damage dispute and payment recovery settlement with adverse carrier by telephone, mail, and electronic claims system.

5. OBTAINS necessary supporting documentation from the involved parties or the liability adjuster to assist with answering or responding to arbitration.

6. ANALYZES information obtained through prior liability investigation to CONSTRUCT arguments that effect the disposition of property and/or casualty insurance claims.

7. May HEAR cases based upon departmental need.

8. PREPARES supporting documents and Files arbitration; primarily as a respondent but in addition as an applicant and counter-applicant.

9. DEFENDS the Company’s liability position by COMPOSING arguments to counter cross applicant contentions.

10. COMMUNICATES with policyholders via telephone or written correspondence to notify of claim status when applicable.

11. RECOVERS funds owed directly from the adverse carrier and REIMBURSES the insured’s deductible.

12. ANALYZES information to determine if arbitration should be filed or negotiated based on expected recovery.

13. GRANTS expense and settlement authority to staff and fee counsel.

14. ISSUES loss and expense payments.

15. REFERS claims exceeding personal negotiation or abandonment authority to the Subrogation Supervisor or attorneys (staff or fee counsel) as appropriate.

16. RECORDS all monies received from direct recoveries to claim file.

17. UTILIZE PC skills as necessary to accomplish goals (using company systems and web-based systems as required).

18. ADHERES to the Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.

19. MEETS attendance standard at business location to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with management and co-workers.

Must be able to multi-task
Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information
Must be able to work varying schedules to meet staffing or phone volume needs
Compensation:
$47,150-$72,775
