Litigation Attorney – New Orleans (#802) Jobs in New Orleans, LA at Baker Donelson
Seymour Family Law is seeking a full-time Family Law Attorney with at least 3-5 years of family law experience, handling a wide variety of family law matters. You will represent clients in various family law matters including marital dissolutions, asset division, child custody and parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, paternity, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who possesses a strong academic background, has courtroom experience, and is able to manage family law cases from start to finish (including through trial if necessary). Salary is dependent upon experience.
Our firm covers the cost of annual licensing fees, state and local bar membership, and continuing legal education courses.
Responsibilities:
Meeting with potential clients to discuss their legal issues and case representation
Provide clients with legal support & guidance as well as advise on legal strategies
Strategizing on how to resolve the clients’ cases in a favorable and cost-effective manner
Time management skills and ability to manage calendar with many deadlines
Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients such as pleadings and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner
Effectively resolve disputes & be proactive by getting ahead of potential problems
Developing arguments
Negotiate settlements
Represent clients in court
Comply with all legal standards and regulations
Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
Staying informed about current legislation
Qualifications:
Admittance to the bar requirements in Minnesota
3-5 years of experience in family law
Familiarity with various legal documents and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to build rapport & trustworthy relationships with clients
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to abiding by the set laws and behaving ethically
Ability to work both independently & collaborate to develop strategies for a case
Computer skills with Microsoft software – Office, Word, Excel
Understanding and working knowledge of Odyssey and Tylerhost filing system
