GovSmart is seeking a Legal and Compliance Specialist to support the company’s legal and regulatory compliance functions. This role will involve assisting with contract management, regulatory research, compliance audits, and the development of policies that ensure adherence to applicable laws and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in government contracting, regulatory compliance, and legal support functions.

Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance and Program Support:
Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.
Support the maintenance of ISO 9001 certification and other regulatory compliance initiatives.
Conduct legal research on federal, state, and local procurement laws, including FAR, DFARS, and CMMC compliance requirements.
Monitor company activities to ensure adherence to applicable laws and industry regulations.
Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports as needed.
Assist in the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees.
Respond to compliance-related inquiries from internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.
Support internal audits, investigations, and the implementation of corrective actions.
Legal and Contract Management:
Assist in reviewing, drafting, and managing government contracts, subcontracts, and related agreements.
Prepare and organize documentation for contract negotiations, modifications, and bid proposals.
Support contract performance monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.
Manage contract databases, filing systems, and document retention policies.
Assist with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, protests, and dispute resolutions.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and outside counsel on contract-related matters.
Prepare correspondence, legal memoranda, and supporting documents.
Stay up to date on changes in procurement law, contract compliance, and best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Business, or a related field (Paralegal certification preferred).
3-5 years of experience in a compliance or legal role, preferably in government contracting or procurement law.
Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CMMC, and other relevant federal procurement regulations.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and contract management software.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour
