Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will handle a diverse caseload encompassing general and commercial litigation, personal injury, employment law, and specialized areas such as environmental law, estate planning, and tribal law. This role requires a proactive approach to case management, exceptional legal research and writing skills, and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients. Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of civil litigation cases, including client consultations, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and courtroom advocacy.
- Conduct thorough legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies across various practice areas such as employment law, securities law, family law, and environmental law.
- Draft legal documents including contracts, motions, pleadings, briefs, and settlement agreements with precision and clarity.
- Prepare for court depositions by developing questioning strategies and analyzing witness testimony.
- Represent clients in negotiations to resolve disputes efficiently while protecting their interests.
- Maintain detailed case files and utilize legal case management systems to track deadlines and document progress.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their objectives, provide clear legal counsel, and communicate case developments effectively.
- Stay current on procedural laws and statutory regulations relevant to multiple jurisdictions.
- Assist in trial preparation by organizing evidence, coordinating expert witnesses, and developing compelling advocacy strategies.
- Support the firm’s commitment to professional excellence through ongoing research into emerging legal issues.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to the state bar is required.
- Proven experience in general litigation with a strong emphasis on civil cases, preferably within insurance defense.
- Demonstrated expertise in legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Knowledge of procedural law across various jurisdictions along with experience in court depositions.
- Familiarity with specialized practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, tribal law & regulations, securities law, patent law, workers’ compensation law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, family law, employment law cases, and statutory legal research.
- Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive documents.
- Strong negotiation skills coupled with effective client communication abilities.
- Experience with legal motion preparation and trial support is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Prior experience working in a law office environment with proficiency in legal case management systems.
