Job Overview
Our Legal Department is looking for a paralegal who will gather and analyze internal research data. Investigate facts and research law to recommend the best course for resolution. Prepare briefs or other documents for the Executive Leadership Team and maintain document files and investigation records. Manage legal holds and direct internal investigations into client complaints. Process incoming attorney communications, draft correspondence, and follow up with counsel as necessary. Regularly coordinate with the Collections department, Compliance office, and Reputation Management department to maintain situational awareness and agreement. This person will report to the legal manager but will work closely with Compliance and Relationship Management on client investigations. This position is fully remote with a schedule of Monday to Friday of 8 to 5 Eastern Standard Time.

Responsibilities
Summarizing cases and preparing reports for attorneys, executive leadership, and Accounts Receivable.
Conducting legal research, investigating facts, and developing legal arguments.
Support the Legal Department in the defense or prosecution of claims.
Organizing and archiving the documents related to completed and ongoing cases.
Monitor changes to laws, guidelines, or regulations; submit reports on pertinent changes in legislation.
Utilize existing files and a variety of other legal research resources to develop information for pending cases.
Answer phone calls and respond to general emails.
Gather information related to client disputes including history of services provided, executed documents, past communications, results, etc.
Take notes at meetings, client interviews, depositions, and hearings.
Handle incoming and outgoing mail.
Schedule meetings and appointments.
Maintain organized files, including copies of all documents and correspondence.
Other duties and responsibilities as directed.
Qualifications
Authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
Certification or associate degree in paralegal studies (bachelor’s degree is preferred) or a combination of education and experience.
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a paralegal role with mass tort cases.
Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents, including complaints, motions, and discovery requests.
Conduct thorough legal research and analysis related to mass tort cases, including case law, statutes, and regulations.
Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are up to date and properly archived.
Prepare and manage discovery materials, including interrogatories, requests for production, and depositions.
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and expert witnesses to gather information and coordinate testimony.
Summarize depositions, medical records, and other pertinent documents.
Assist in trial preparation, including drafting trial exhibits and coordinating logistics.
Stay updated on mass tort trends and developments in relevant case law.
Investigative thinking and strong research skills.
Working knowledge of legal database software.
Experience in preparing legal reports.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
Strong understanding of judicial system.
