An offshore litigation practice with a strong reputation in the Asian market is looking for an experienced disputes lawyer to join its Hong Kong office. This is a chance to step into a genuinely international caseload, working across Cayman Islands and BVI-related matters for clients spread across multiple jurisdictions.
The work is varied and substantial: commercial litigation, shareholder and boardroom disputes, insolvency and restructuring mandates, fraud and asset tracing, enforcement, and international arbitration. The successful candidate will run their own files and be expected to help build the department's profile with existing and prospective clients — so will suit someone who enjoys the commercial and business development side of practice, not just the legal work itself.
What the firm is looking for:
- Cayman Islands or BVI admission (or eligibility for admission)
- Around five years' PQE gained at a well-regarded firm or set of chambers, with genuine exposure to complex, cross-border disputes touching Cayman or BVI entities
- Solid academics, including at least a 2:1 law degree
- A background in international or offshore practice
- Confident advocacy and communication skills
- Sound judgment under pressure, with the ability to turn around commercially sensible advice quickly
