Benefits To You
We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.
OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job.
In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the third step of the salary range, depending on experience. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
Position Highlights
The
Washington County Circuit Court
in Hillsboro, Oregon, is hiring a Criminal Courtroom Clerk (Court Operations Specialist) to provide administrative support to a judge or hearings referee in the courtroom and in chambers, as well as partner with other court staff to support the judicial officers at the Washington County Law Enforcement Center courtrooms.
In this role, you will prepare and staff the high-volume arraignment courtrooms for daily arraignment dockets, release hearings, changes of plea, and other criminal hearings. In doing this work, you will record court proceedings, create minutes for dockets, fill out a variety of forms, prepare orders for the judge’s signature, prepare and review final dockets, assign court dates, and provide service copies of charging documents to defendants, attorneys, and the sheriff’s office. You will respond to the security needs of the courtroom. You will also host and monitor remote hearings.
When not in the courtroom, you will perform data entry, maintain multiple calendars, help the judge with correspondence, track cases, copy and scan documents, process mail, reply to emails, and send faxes. You will also process warrant recalls, requests from self-represented litigants, dismissals, transport orders, and protective orders as needed.
Additionally, you will provide customer service to the public, law enforcement agencies, the District Attorney’s Office, and attorneys to coordinate criminal court administration and make court dockets run smoothly. Multitasking and collaboration are essential aspects of this position.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Four (4) years of responsible administrative experience in a moderately complex office or business setting demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the position.

education and experience
equivalent to four (4) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.

Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
Experience and skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information.
Bilingual Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
This is a fast-paced office environment, and the person in this position must be productive, accurate, and able to prioritize their workload to meet deadlines.

Long periods of sitting or standing at a computer.
Long periods of time in a courtroom.
