Steptoe LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 firm, is actively seeking a Legislative Intern to foster the initiatives of the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) Group. Assist members of the GAPP practice group in monitoring and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and political developments for a variety of clients. Day-to-day tasks include researching public policy issues, covering Congressional hearings, writing memos, arranging and coordinating meetings on the Hill, and attending meetings on the Hill. This is a part-time position, approximately 20-25 hours a week. This position is intended for the 2025 Summer semester (June – end of August).

Essential Functions
Assist in researching and drafting cogent analysis of legislative, regulatory, and political developments
Work with team to develop and implement advocacy strategy
Attend external meetings and events and act as a representative of Steptoe and its clients
Interact in a professional manner with policymakers and staff
Correspond with clients and relevant parties
Research GAPP initiatives
Track hearings and write reports and analyses regarding relevant issues
Assist members of the government affairs and public policy practice group in monitoring and analyzing legislative, regulatory, and political developments for a wide variety of clients.
Non-Essential Functions
Complete other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Currently pursuing a four-year college degree from an accredited university
Demonstrated interest and some relevant experience in legislative affairs and/or political science (Capitol Hill experience a plus)

Available to work in the office as needed during normal business hours, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $20/hr. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant’s experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
