Wyoming Legislative Service Office (LSO) Attorney Role
The LSO seeks a motivated attorney to join its legal team and support the Wyoming Legislature’s mission. The work involves addressing state-wide challenges, becoming a subject-matter expert, and learning from skilled professionals.
Responsibilities
Draft legislation and conduct research for legislative committees and legislators
Staff the Senate or House during legislative sessions, providing guidance, preparing amendments, and advising on procedural and legal questions
Attend and staff interim committee meetings, draft legislation, present research, and prepare meeting summaries
Develop expertise on issues within a legislative committee’s jurisdiction
Communicate with legislators, government officials, stakeholders, and lobbyists to develop legislation
Lead teams of LSO professionals
Review agency administrative rules
Draft summaries of enacted legislation
Travel within Wyoming for legislative business
Complete special projects and other tasks
Qualifications
Juris Doctorate or a third-year law student graduating this semester
Admitted to practice law in Wyoming or willing to seek admission
Strong academic record
Excellent writing and research skills
Leadership and team management skills
