Job Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and highly skilled Legal Transcriptionist to join our remote team. Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe audio and video recordings of legal proceedings, such as court hearings, depositions, legal interviews, and dictated correspondence
- Review and edit transcriptions for grammatical and legal accuracy, adhering to standard formatting and procedural requirements
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive legal information at all times
- Ensure all transcribed documents are completed within specified turnaround times
- Collaborate with legal teams or attorneys to clarify unclear audio or complex terminology
- Maintain accurate logs of completed work and submit periodic progress reports as required
- Keep up-to-date with legal terminology, documentation practices, and transcription standards
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a certification or associate degree in legal studies, paralegal studies, or transcription is preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in legal transcription or a related legal support role
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in transcription software (e.g., Express Scribe), Microsoft Office Suite, and legal document formatting
- Typing Speed: Strong typing skills with a minimum speed of 75 words per minute and high accuracy
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of legal terminology, case law, and documentation formats
- Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive legal information with discretion and integrity
