Job Summary

Under supervision and following established policies and department procedures, responsible for supporting the organization’s legal department by performing administrative duties to assist legal operations. Completes various legal process paperwork for all Dacotah Bank locations. Will serve as first point-of-contact responding to legal services, inquiries, and concerns. Organize legal documents, complete legal procedures, and support legal professionals’ requests. Provide support for branch related centralized operations including the following functional duties.

Essential Functions

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily or make a request for reasonable accommodations as needed.

Accept, review, and evaluate summons, small estate affidavits, levies, and other garnishment notices; determine appropriate action, prepare customer and agency written communication, if applicable, identify records requiring production and coordinate response with required documents.

Receive, review, and process bankruptcy notices, discharges, dismissals, reaffirmations and/or file proof of claims.

Assist with retrieving statements, transaction history and transaction images from all image and report applications for subpoena production, legal orders, customer requests, and other research requirements.

Administer responsibilities defined in legal process procedures; review and update as necessary. Organize and maintain files accordingly.

Provide support and direction across departments and branches regarding legal questions, document review, workflows, etc.

Other Functions

Support the long-term development of the legal function through process improvement and establishment of best practices for all aspects of legal operations.

Communicate clearly and effectively across banking departments and to outside parties when appropriate.

Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and stored in accordance with retrievability expectations.

Work closely under supervision of general counsel, and exercise independent judgment in escalating issues within broadly defined practices and policies.

Other administrative duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Ability to be self-motivated; pay attention to detail; simultaneously handle multiple tasks; meet identified deadlines; and work independently to complete assigned tasks.

Ability to learn and understand legal terminology, procedures, documents, and principles related to legal support work.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; prepare legal documents and correspondence using appropriate formatting, terminology, and references.

Ability to lead self and meet or exceed leadership expectations defined by competencies and their related behaviors in the Individual Contributor level of the Leadership Framework.

Ability to maintain the confidentiality of company, employee, and customer information.
