A mid-sized law firm in New York is seeking a temporary Legal Secretary to join their team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting legal professionals by providing essential administrative assistance and ensuring smooth operations within the department. Need litigation support experience.
This is a temporary assignment for a few months.
Pay rate: $40-45/hr.
Fully on-site
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to legal professionals, including answering phones, calendar management, scheduling meetings, and prioritizing tasks to ensure smooth workflow.
- Draft and format legal documents such as contracts, briefs, pleadings, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy, proper formatting, and adherence to company standards.
- Maintain electronic and physical filing systems for legal documents, ensuring organization and easy access, while managing confidential information securely.
- Conduct legal research using online databases and resources to support attorneys in case preparation and analysis, including gathering relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, printing, and faxing documents, as well as submitting expense reimbursements and opening new client matters.
- Assist with client billing by tracking attorney time and expenses, entering data into billing software, and preparing invoices for clients.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and accommodations for attorneys attending out-of-town meetings, depositions, or trials, including booking flights, hotels, and rental cars.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a legal secretary or administrative assistant in a corporate or legal environment is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word, and familiarity with legal documentation and formatting.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail to manage multiple tasks effectively and prioritize workload.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members, clients, and external stakeholders.
