Part-Time or Project Attorney in Employment & Business Law
Our business & employment law firm (90% Plaintiff) has quite a unique mix of clients that provide interesting cases. We are seeking an attorney who can help with complaints, motions, and discovery. If you are capable of depositions and hearings, all the better.
Our offices are conveniently located in the Golden Triangle behind the La Jolla Marriott. While we prefer you work in the office, we are open to a hybrid situation.
We offer a collegial working environment and have a stellar success rate; we want someone who wants to be great at what they do. We enjoy the intellectual aspect of law, and that is how we prevail. We are all team players and great communicators. You have the benefit of working on cases that in other firms you would wait years to work on…if you’re good, we will respect your abilities and provide the challenges you require. In our firm, you are part of a team, you are never alone, even if you are part-time.
We seek someone who is genuine, easy to work with, and a good team player. You should be able to take ownership of your projects and meet deadlines in advance. We are not looking for copy-and-paste type persons; our pleadings are custom-made to the individual case. The ideal candidate should have superb research and writing skills.
We seek someone well-spoken, professional, and who likes to learn, with great research skills. We are seeking someone who can work well without supervision. You should be motivated (we don’t micromanage), a self-starter, and someone who can handle a fast-paced environment. We are happy to mentor and will take you to the next level, but you must have a strong work ethic, be a team player, and bring some experience to the table. You should have at least 2 years’ experience in law and motion, be able to propound and respond to discovery, as well as write briefs of various kinds. You will be expected to argue motions in court, and attend various hearings and depositions.
The responsibilities include:
-Drafting demand letters and complaints, as well as answering complaints
-Propounding and responding to written discovery
-Preparing and defending motions, as well as arguing them
-Preparing the docs for, and attending arbitrations and mediations, and
-Preparing cases for trial
Please submit a confidential cover letter telling us about yourself including your rate of pay and benefits required. Submit 3 writing samples (ie something you wrote yourself) including a complaint and arb/med/trial brief or something similar, as well as an explanation of your career goals.
