Overview
Legal Secretary/Assistant Jobs in Austin, TX at Hembree Bell Law
Calling all legally brilliant, advocacy badasses.
This is not your typical attorney role. If you’re looking for prestige without rolling up your sleeves, this isn’t the place. But if you’re someone who takes pride in doing the work, mentoring others, and showing up for clients in and out of court, we want to talk.
Why This Role Exists
We are a fast-paced immigration law firm looking for an experienced, adaptable, and ego-free immigration attorney. You will represent clients in court, mentor legal staff, conduct consultations, and occasionally jump into paralegal-level work when the need arises. If your goal is to make a meaningful difference in clients’ lives while contributing to a strong legal team, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Court Representation: You will appear in immigration court for both master and individual hearings. This is not optional. You must be confident and competent in litigation.
Legal Oversight and Supervision: You will guide case strategy, review and approve legal drafts, and coach paralegals and junior staff to ensure top-tier legal work.
Client Consultations: You will conduct immigration consultations with prospective and current clients when higher-level legal analysis is needed.
Legal Drafting: You will draft motions to EOIR, BIA appeals, briefs, waivers, declarations, and memos to USCIS that are legally sound and emotionally compelling.
Research: You will conduct country conditions and jurisdiction-specific research to strengthen filings and hearing preparation.
Collaboration and Case Progress: You will work with the Case Manager and Legal Assistants to ensure every case is moving forward on time with no loose ends.
Hands-On Mentality: You are not above assisting with filing logistics or reviewing forms when needed. No task is beneath you if it helps the team succeed.
