Established law firm seeking legal assistant. Candidates need to have keen attention to detail, ability to be a team player as well as work independently, excellent organizational, communication and technology skills. This position provides high-level secretarial and administrative support to multiple attorneys.
Legal Assistant Job Responsibilities:
Enhances attorney effectiveness by developing case information, evidence, and tracking cases supporting attorney’s trial proceedings.
Legal Assistant Job Duties:
Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files, monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines, documenting actions, inputting information into file database and client file, and confirming case status with attorney.
Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case, scheduling depositions, preparing, and forwarding summonses and subpoenas, preparing and filing discovery requests.
Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact and communicating case progress.
Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balances with attorney and clients.
Supports case preparation by preparing pleadings; monitoring and obtaining discovery responses, downloading discovery, and distributing it upon request, organizing materials for team case review.
Assist with trial preparation, including the preparation of exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks.
