Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to provide administrative and clerical support to a legal team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, briefs, and subpoenas.
File legal documents with courts and administrative agencies, both electronically and in-person as needed.
Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, court dates, and client appointments.
Answer and direct incoming calls, take messages, and handle general inquiries.
Maintain and organize case files, records, and legal correspondence.
Communicate with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and other legal professionals.
Perform administrative duties such as data entry, copying, scanning, mailing, and faxing.
Assist with billing, time entry, and expense reporting.
Ensure compliance with legal procedures and confidentiality regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or certification in legal studies or paralegal training preferred.
Proven experience as a legal secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with legal terminology, court systems, and legal document formatting.
