Fisher Phillips, a premier international labor and employment law firm, is seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Secretary to join our Columbia office. In this essential role, you will help ensure the smooth operation of our services, directly supporting our attorneys in delivering exceptional client service and upholding our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Format briefs, pleadings, correspondence and other legal documents.

File legal documents with state, federal courts, EEOC, and NLRB (e-filing knowledge a plus).

Regularly and accurately proofreads all documents to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to distribution or filing.

Update and maintain client files (electronic and paper).

Maintain attorney calendars through Outlook and Compu Law (i.e. scheduling appointments, calendaring due dates, etc.).

Organize and coordinate travel arrangements for assigned attorneys.

Prepare and submit attorney expenses.

Consistently provide friendly and helpful telephone support for assigned attorneys and/or receptionist relief.

Review and ensure accuracy of vendor invoices; prepare accurate check requests and timely submit invoices for payment to client or accounting.

Monitor attorney continuing legal education credits.

Cover for receptionist when needed.

Requirements

Minimum of a high school diploma required (College degree is preferred, but not required).

A minimum of five years of experience as a legal secretary is required.

Lexis Nexis, Pacer, ECF, Desksite or document management system, Compu Law, Concur, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and legal processes in the Litigation Department, including the ability to mark and generate a table of contents and table of authorities.

Accurate typing at a net speed of 65+ wpm (shorthand/speed writing a plus).

Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Document Management Systems, Time Entry, e-filing and database software.
