Role Description

This is a full-time on-site Legal Secretary role located in Durban. The Legal Secretary will be responsible for tasks such as legal document preparation, managing diaries, utilizing clerical skills, and providing support to legal assistants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drafting and formatting legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, briefs, memoranda, and discovery requests.

Proofreading documents for accuracy and compliance with legal formatting standards.

Compiling and organizing legal documents within case files.

Case management:

Opening new case files, recording relevant details, and updating case management systems.

Tracking deadlines, court dates, and important milestones in litigation cases.

Maintaining detailed case files with proper organization and indexing.

Scheduling and Communication:

Scheduling court appearances, depositions, client meetings, and conferences.

Communicating with clients to provide updates on case progress and gather necessary information.

Contacting opposing counsel and other parties to coordinate legal matters.

Administrative Tasks:

MINIMUM CRITERIA:

Proficient typing and computer skills (Microsoft Office)

Attention to detail

Organizational skills

Communication skills

Legal knowledge: Basic understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules.

Valid Driver’s License / Own Transport

Minimum of 2-5 years experience

Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
