Role Overview

An opportunity is available for a driven Legal Professional to provide legal advice and support to policy holders. The role involves handling civil matters, conducting consultations, drafting legal documents, and facilitating dispute resolution through mediation and negotiation.

This role operates within a legal insurance environment, not a traditional law firm. Employees do not attend court. Instead, the role functions within a call centre-based legal services environment, where communication with policyholders and attorneys takes place primarily via telephonic and email correspondence. 

Key Requirements

  • LLB degree (admission as an attorney or advocate advantageous)
  • Minimum 2+ years’ post-articles experience in civil law
  • Proficiency in at least two official African languages
  • Strong drafting, communication, and administrative skills
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • High level of integrity, initiative, and professionalism

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients via consultations and correspondence
  • Handle a variety of civil matters, including family and estate-related issues
  • Draft legal documents such as letters, agreements, and wills
  • Manage and maintain case files, ensuring accurate record-keeping
  • Conduct legal research and apply relevant legal principles
  • Provide regular updates and feedback to clients on case progress
  • Facilitate mediation and negotiations to resolve disputes
  • Assess case merits and advise on possible legal action
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with internal teams and support functions
